I have been treating horses on the Olympic Peninsula since 1999. I was raised in the Skagit Valley, in Washington state, where my family bred thoroughbreds and quarter horses. My family were heavily involved in the horse community. Both my parents competed in reigning and team penning and my father was a Skagit Valley (horseman's) sheriff posse member. I rode western most of my childhood, was involved with 4-H, guided in the back country during college, and later in life fell in love with the english disciplines. The healing art of bodywork came to me through a car accident where I severely injured my neck and back. I spent a couple of years in the hands of some very talented massage therapists, craniosacral therapists, chiropractors and acupuncturists and shortly after my initiation to this alternative care I knew it was going to be my path as well. It was a very exciting day for me when I decided to incorporate my interest in bodywork and body awareness with my passion for horses. So in the late nineties I changed my career to do so.

I am a graduate of Port Townsend Massage School in Port Townsend Washington and Equinology in Santa Rosa/Petaluma California and have studied across the country with many renowned veterinarians, physical therapists, osteopaths and trainers/clinicians. My clientele ranges from grand prix level jumpers and dressage riders to nationally qualified reigners and barrel racers. My clients are 100-mile endurance riders, ponyclubbers, 4-H-ers, backcountry horsemen and the backyard horse owner. In general my clients are people who care about their horses health. My therapy practice emphasizes structural bodywork to treat equine injuries, correct postural issues related to horse and rider, maintain proper conditioning and to work with horses that have been compromised by certain illnesses. A licensed equine massage practitioner in Washington state and a nationally licensed (human) massage practitioner I have studied over 2000 hours in a variety of modalities. I'm an advanced certified craniosacral therapist, myofascial therapist, deep tissue therapist, lymphatic drainage therapist, and I'm trained in strain counterstrain/positional release (structural spinal/joint alignment) and many other therapies. I have had a private bodywork practice (for people) in Port Townsend since 2000 and taught deep tissue for Port Townsend School of Massage. In addition to my massage schooling I also have a BS in Visual Communications Education from Western Washington University. With this degree I learned how to relay information through visual and/or verbal communication skills in such a way that a person watching, hearing or reading can comprehend it fully. I have found this to be very beneficial when communicating the treatment process to horse owners and in helping them understand the follow up that may require their assistance. I also teach clinics for horse owners in body awareness (of rider and horse), equine stretching, saddlefitting and massage techniques. I live on Marrowstone Island and I'm available for local stable calls/appointments on the Olympic Peninsula. I am also available for barn calls off the Peninsula if there are multiple sessions booked (full day at a barn, etc) and for clinics nationally and internationally.
